Plan Your Visit to Centre Pompidou

When is the Best Time to Visit Centre Pompidou?

The best time to visit the Centre Pompidou depends on your preferences and schedule. However, there are a few general tips that can help you avoid crowds and have a more enjoyable experience.

Weekdays are generally less crowded than weekends, especially during the summer months. If you can, try to visit on Tuesday or Wednesday, as these are the days with the fewest visitors.

Mornings are also a good time to visit, as the museum opens at 11 am and the crowds tend to thin out after lunch. If you are visiting during the summer, be sure to arrive early, as the museum can get very crowded, especially on weekends.

Off-season is another great time to visit the Centre Pompidou, as the crowds are smaller, and the prices are lower. However, some of the museum’s temporary exhibitions may not be on display during this time.

How Much Time Should I Plan to Visit Centre Pompidou?

How much time you need to visit the Centre Pompidou depends on how much you want to see and how in-depth you want to explore the exhibits. If you are only interested in seeing the permanent collections, you can probably get through the museum in 2-3 hours. However, if you want to see the special exhibitions and take your time, you may want to plan for 4-5 hours.

Here is a breakdown of how much time you might need to see different parts of the museum:
Permanent collections: 2-3 hours
Special exhibitions: 1-2 hours
Rooftop terrace: 30 minutes

Everything is served perfectly. Don’t miss the 6. Floor, even if you don’t like “contemporary art” or if you are a child. If you couldn’t find even one interesting work, tell me.

We loved using the Museum Pass, it made it easier to enter places and we were able to skip some preferential queues. Unfortunately, we used it on New Year’s Eve so we were unable to enter some museums and/or we saw some that require prior reservation, such as the Louvre. I recommend booking museums in advance for commemorative dates.

The pass was good value for money and it was clear what was included and what wasn’t. It provided access to a very large range of attractions which helped us to pick the main sites we wanted to see. It is important to ensure that you don’t loose your pass though as they only provide a hard copy.
